Bama’s Devonte Smith Named AP College Football Player of The Year

DeVonta Smith is the first WR and first Alabama player to be named The AP college football player of the year. Smith received 26 first-place votes and 114 points. Mac Jones, Smith’s teammate, received nine first place votes and 67 points.

Smith, This year has compiled over 1,500 all-purpose yards to go with 98 receptions and 18 touchdowns. There’s no doubt that he will surpass the 100 receptions on the season during this postseason.

This can be a precursor for the Heisman Trophy winner. 17 of 22 AP POYs have won the Heisman Trophy.

Smith improved in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns in two less games than last season.
